STAFF REPORT
Bids for the maintenance of this landscaping were opened at 2:00 p.m.
on Tuesday, 5-12-87.
A total of 4 bids were received, ranging from $3,336.00 to $4,200.00.
The low bid of $3,335 is 0.09% under the Engineer's Estimate of $3,350.00.
Listed below is an estimate of the total cost of the landscape
maintenance, based upon the actual low bid price:

The Notice to Proceed will be effective on 7-1-87. The contract will
be in effect until June 30, 1988. Bids will be solicited for a new contract
to commence on July 1, 1988.
Funding for the costs incurred on this project will be provided pur-
suant to Resolution No. 85-235 adopted July 1, 1985, which orders the
maintenance of the landscaping and lighting. , Costs for maintenance and
electrical energy will be pre-funded by the City, as set forth in Resolu-
tion of Intention No. 85-197 and the amount will be reimbursed through
assessments levied in all parcels within the district for the following
fiscal year.
Supervision of the maintenance effort will be provided by the
Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services, who has reviewed the
bids and agrees to awarding the contract.
We recommend that a contract be awarded to the low bidder.

RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AWARDING A
CONTRACT TO MENTONE TURF SUPPLY, FOR MAINTENANCE OF LANDSCAPING
IN PORTIONS OF AIRPORT DRIVE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Mentone Turf Supply is the lowest responsible
bidder for construction of a public project, to-wit: Maintenance
of landscaping in portions of Airport Drive, in accordance with
Plan No. 6738-A (1987-88), for the total amount of $3,336.00, a
contract is award~d to said bidder accordingly, but such award
shall be effective only upon the contract being fully executed by
the parties; all othe~ bids therefor are hereby rejected; and the
~1ayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute said contract
on behalf of the City.
A copy of the contract is attached
hereto, marked Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by reference
as fully as though set forth at length.
SECTION 2. This contract and any amendments or
modifications thereto shall not take effect or become operative
until fully signed and executed by the parties and no party
shall be obligated hereunder until the time of such full
execution. No oral agreements, amendments, modifications or
waivers are intended or authorized and shall not be implied
from any act or course of conduct of any party.
