5-21-84 ___ Resolution No. 84-191 adopted awarding a contract for maintenance
of landscaping to J & R Landscaping for the low bid prlce of
$2,340.00.
5-20-85 __ Resolution No. 85-192 adopted awarding a contract for maintenance
of landscaping to Sandahl's Landscape & Maintenance for the low
bid price of $2,040.00.
6-02-86 __ Resolution No. 86-209 adopted awarding a contract for maintenance
of landscaping to Mentone Turf Supply for the low bid price of $2,690.00.

STAFF REPORT
Bids for providing these landscaping maintenance services were
opened at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 5-12-87.
A total of 3 bids were received, ranging from $3,228.00 to $6,192.00.
The low bid of $3,228.00 is 2.2% under the Engineer's Estimate of $3,300.00.

The Notice to Proceed will be effective on July I, 1987. The
contract will be in effect until June 30, 1988.
Funding for the costs incurred on this project will be provided pur-
suant to Resolution No. 82-159, adopted on April 19, 1982, which orders the
installation and maintenance of the landscaping. The landscaping was in-
stalled under a previous contract. Costs for maintenance will be pre-funded
by the City, as set forth in the Resolution of Intention (Resolution No.
82-120), and the amount reimbursed through assessments levied on all parcels
within the district for the following fiscal year.
Supervision of the maintenance effort will be provided by the Depart-
ment of Parks, Recreation and Community Services, who has reviewed the bids
and agrees to awarding a contract.
We recommend that a contract be awarded to the low bidder.

RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AWARDING A
CONTRACT TO MENTONE TURF SUPPLY FOR MAINTENA~CE OF LANDSCAPING
IN PORTIONS OF 16TH STREET, BETWEEN MUSCOTT STREET AND
CALIFORNIA STREET.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COM~ON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Mentone Turf Supply is determined to be the
lowest responsible bidder for construction of a public project,
to-wit:
Maintenance of landscaping in portions of 16th Street,
between Muscott Street and California Street, Assessment District
No. 953, in accordance with Plan No. 6177 (1987-88), for the
total amount of $3,228.00, a contract is awarded to ,satd bidder
accordingly, but such award shall be effective only upon the
contract being fully executed by the parties; all other bids
therefor are hereby rejected; and the Mayor is hereby authorized
and directed to execute said contract on behalf of the City; a
copy of the contract is attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A" and
incorporated herein by reference as fully as though set forth at
length.
SECTION 2. This contract and any amendments or
modifications thereto shall not take effect or become operative
until fully signed and executed by the parties and no party shall
be obligated hereunder until the time of such full execution.
No oral agreements, amendments, modifications or waivers are
intended or authorized and shall not be implied from any act
or course of conduct of any party.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly
adopted by the Mayo~ and Common Council of the City of San
