CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT'
The City's Underground Utility District Committee recommends
the undergrounding of utilities within Rialto Avenue, between
"E" Stre~t and "j" Street and "G" Street, between Rialto Avenue
and Second Street.
Rule 20-A of the Public Utilities Commission requires Southern
California Edison Company to set aside a certain percentage of
their receipts to cover the cost of undergrounding their facili-
ties within districts established by local agencies. Approxi-
mately $314,000 is set aside each year for the City of San
Bernardino.
According to the Edison Company, its estimated cost of their
project will be approximately $225,000 and the work to be done
within this area will be done at no cost to the City of San
Bernardino. We recommend that the district be approved.

2 RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN BERNARDINO NOTICING A PUBLIC HEARING CONCERNING THE
3 FORMATION OF AN UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 15, LOCATED
ALONG A LINE APPROXIMATELY 350 FEET SOUTH OF RIALTO AVENUE AND
4 THE SOUTH LINE OF SECOND STREET AND BETWEEN "E" STREET AND ,"I"
STREET.

WHEREAS, Chaptcr 13.36 of the San Bernardino Municipal
Code of the City of San Bernardino provides for the establishment
of an underground utility district within said City upon a
finding by the Mayor and Common Council after a noticed public
hearing that the public necessity, health, safety or welfare
requires the underground installation of utilities within said
district; and
WHEREAS, the Underground Utilities Committee of said
City has recommended the formation of an underground utility
district to include the real property described in the following
resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common
Coul,cil of the City of San Bernardino as follows:
SECTION 1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the public
hearing will be held before the Mayor and Common Council of the
City of San Bernardino on July 6, 1987, at the hour of 10:00 a.m.,
at the Council Chambers, 300 North "D" Street, San Bernardino,
California, to determine whether the public necessity, health,
safety or welfare require the formation of Underground Utility
District No. 15, located along a line approximately 350 feet
south of Rialto Avenue and the south line of Second Street and
between "E" Street and "I" Street; more particularly shown on
Drawing No. 7267 by the Engineering Division,'City of San

SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to

notify all affected property owners as shown on the last
equalized assessment roll and all affected utility companies
6 by mailing a co py of this resolution to them at least ten
7 (10) days prior to the date of said hearing.
