That the Real Property Section of the Public Works Department be
authorized and directed to proceed with changing the name of 31st
Street, between Hidalgo Drive and Mary Ann Lane, to Del Norte Drive.

STAFF REPORT
On March 12, 1987, this office received a request from the Fire
Department for a street name change for 31st Street, between
Hidalgo Drive and Mary Ann Lane.
The reason for the request is due to the fact that there is
some confusion pertaining to the addresses on Hidalgo Drive
and Mary Ann Lane. The 3100 block actually begins at Lynwood
Drive, one block South of 31st Street.
There are no homes along this portion of 31st Street that have
a 31st Street address. Only one house fronts on 31st Street,
however, it has a Hidalgo Drive address, thus no address
changes would be necessary.
There are several possibilities for a new name based on align-
ment. It appears that Del Norte Drive, located several blocks
to the West, has the closest alignment, and we would recommend
the name be changed to Del Norte Drive based on that fact.

I have talked to Chief Park about this situation and he wanted me
to s~bmit possible change of street name and map of area.
Tr~rty First (31st St.)between Hidalgo Dr. and Mary Ann Ln. should never
been named that because-the 3100 block N. starts at Lynwood Dr. making many homes
S. of 31st St. with a 3100 block address.
7nere are no homes on 31st St. with an E.&W. address. One home cn the N/E
corner of 31st St. & Hidalgo Dr: faces 31st St. but has a Hidalgo Dr. address.
This hc~e woUld be the only home that shoUld have an E.&W. address but as long as
they have their address on the W. side of the structure and is visable I see no
reason to change their address.
Recommended would be the street name c~from 31!lSt. to:

Note: There is also a North st. (County) N. of Marshall Blvd. between
Bonnie St. & Golondrina St.
