HomeMy WebLinkAbout43-Council Office c r"' V WAYS & MEANS o COMMITTEE June 12, 1987 ATTENDEES: Councilwoman Esther Estrada-Chairman, Councilman Jess Flores, Councilwoman Norine Miller, City Administrator - Ray Schweitzer, Public Services Director - Manuel Moreno, Deputy City Attorney - John Wilson; Recreation Supt. - John Kramer, Public Buildings Supt. - Wayne Overstreet; purchasing Agent - Dean Meech, Council Executive Assistant Phil Arvizo; Mayor's Executive Assistant - Richard Bennecke; Mr. Frank Hernandez. 1. SOFTBALL FEES AND ADULT SPECIAL INTEREST PROGRAMS - Item continued. The Committee received a report from Mr. Kramer and subsequently directed him to provide the Committee members a draft copy of a recommended survey. The survey would poll teams on their option for services they would like to receive and what it would cost. The teams are to be notified that Mr. Frank Hernandez has lodged a complaint with the Committee. The Committee is exploring alternatives to the present system. Additionally, Mr. Kramer will review and report on the Church League to determine if there are any violations in the amount they pay versus that of the regular league. 2. MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT STORED IN CONVENTION CENTER - The Committee recommended disposal of equipment and material as recommended by Public Buildings and Purchasing repre- sentatives. The City Administrator will take administrative action to accomplish same. 3. REPORT COMPARING FEES PROPOSED BY OTHER CITIES FOR ONCE-A-WEEK REFUSE SERVICE - The Committee received a report from Public Services. Mr. Moreno was directed to prepare two charts for the public hearing on June 15~ The first is to be a graph depicting escalating costs in four areas of refuse collection (dump charges, salaries, garage charges, and equipment costs). The second chart will display a compar- ison of San Bernardino to surrounding areas or cities indi- cating residential costs and service schedules (once/twice per week).
