Re: Barton Road Encroachment Permit
The Honorable Mayor and City Council Members:
The City of Riverside's Public Utilities Department urgently requests an
exception to the Encroachment Permit moratorium in order to install up to
six air release valves on the existing 48-inch Gage Pipeline.
The Proposed air valves will be installed along Barton Road between Water-
man Avenue and Washington Street, as soon as possible. The valves are
necessary to release air which is being produced from the Gage Wells.
This project will not be growth inducing for the City of San Bernardino,
and will serve only to permit efficient operation and maintenance of the
existing Gage Pipeline. The air valves will be about the size of a stan-
dard fire hydrant and will be installed as far back of the curb face as
possible so as not to interfere with existing or future sidewalks.
The location of the first air valve is shown on the accompanying sketch.
Traffic control measures, along with the encroachment permit application,
are ready for submittal. It is estimated that 2-3 working days will be
required for valve installation.
We will appreciate your expeditious action on this matter. Please address
any questions to Edward Kostja1 who will attend the June 29, 1987, Council
Meeting.
