STAFF REPORT
The budget of the Purchasing and Stores division of the Finance Department has
contained for the past several years funds for a part-time (half time) clerical
position. A review of the workload and organizational structure of the
Division by the Ways and Means Committee resulted in the recommendation
that the half time position be increased to a full-time position. The
recently implemented classification study changed the classification of the
full-time Intermediate Typist Clerk in the Division to the classification of
Purchasing Clerk.
On June 18, 1987, the Personnel Committee reviewed the classification of the
recommended full-time position and based upon their analysis and the Personnel
Director's recommendation, the proposed resolution would establish the
additional position of Purchasing Clerk.
Initially, the authorized staffing included one full-time and one half-time
Intermediate Typist Clerk. The recommended revision would provide for two
Purchasing Clerks. The proposed 1987-88 Budget has eliminated the part-time
position and includes the full-time position,
