STAFF REPORT
PROBLEM:
Resolution No. 86-156 provides for a service fee of $5 for Record Check Letters.
The same fee is charged to a person with or without an arrest record even
though the time required to prepare a letter when an arrest record exists far
exceeds that of a no record letter. A reasonable fee for a record check letter
with a record would be $15.
Resolution No. 86-156 establishes fees of $3 to prepare a cassette tape
reproduction and $10 to prepare a video tape reproduction. Reasonable fees
for these services would be $5 for cassette tapes and $20 for video tapes.
Resolution No. 86-156 makes no provision for charging for computer print-outs
which reflect otherwise public record information. Requests for this type
of data are routinely received. A reasonable fee for this service would be
$15 minimum, at the rate of $15 per increment of ten computer pages.
RECOMMENDATI ON:
Resolution No. 86-156 be repealed with the adoption of the proposed resolution
which includes the following fee changes and lor additions:

FINDINGS:
The fee changes and additions in the proposed resolution are more closely in
line with the actual time expended to provide these services.

SERVICES FURNISHED BY THE SAN BERNARDINO POLICE DEPARTMENT AND REPEALING
