The Department of Public Services/Refuse Section maintains an Extra Board
of approximately 12 to 20 employees all year round. During the Summer
months. this increases to betwen 30 and 40 employees.
The 6 employees listed on the attached Personnel Action Request form are
part of the 12 currently emp10yeed. Since we had very poor response from
interviews held in the Spring, only the 12 are trained for vacation re-
placement. Vacations have had to be cancelled until new personnel is hired
and trained. Interviews have been scheduled and the expected starting date
is August 4, 19B7.
The 6 employees now being recommended for an extension are eligible for per-
manent employment with the Refuse Section. Almost all permanent employees
are hired from the Extra Board. There duration of employment has been ex-
tended in the past for 90 days up to 6 months. Funding is from the Refuse
Fund and has no impact on the General Fund.
