Recommended motion:
That a finding be made that the widening of 40th Street, from Electric
Avenue to Mt. View Avenue, in accordance with Plan No. 7283, is needed
for health and safety reasons.

STAFF REPORT
Fortieth Street. east of Mt. View Avenue. is 4 lanes in width. How-
ever. west of Mt. View Avenue. it is only 2 lanes in width. This situation
was a result of not being able to widen the roadway due to insufficient right-
of-way.
Additional right-of-way has been acquired. and the roadway can be
widened to the planned ultimate width of 72 feet between curbs.
Widening this section of 40th Street will improve traffic flow and
reduce the accident rate.
We recommend that a finding be made that this widening is needed for
health and safety reasons.
