Public Works/Engineering Date: July 2, 1987 Synopsis of Previous Council action: 5-19-86 Resolution No. 86-191 adopted closing Piedmont Drive at its easterly terminus and directing construction of a cul-de-sac. Went on record supporting construction of temporary emergency access. Plans approved and authorization granted to advertise for bids. Resolution No. 86-330 adopted authorizing execution of a Reimbursement Agreement with Hill Williams relative to Tract 13329. Resolution No. 86-331 adopted authorizing execution of a Reimbursement Agreement with Hill Williams relative to APN 285-1BI-35 (Expired Tent. That Change Order No. Two to the contract with Bonadiman-McCain, Inc. for the construction of a cul-de-sac on Piedmont Drive at Victoria Avenue be approved; to authorize the Contractor to transport heavy construction equipment for an increase in contract price of $587.1B, from $256.742.14 to $257.329.32. CI-H- OF SAN BERNARD~O - REQU~T FOR COUNCIL AC~ON STAFF REPORT During construction of the storm drain pipeline, underground electri- cal transmission lines were encountered. causing the Contractor to cease operations. The Contractor was unable to continue construction until the lines were relocated by the utility company. Increased costs were experienced while securing the Contractor's work and transporting heavy construction equipment. The total cost of Contract Change Order No. Two is $587.18. increasing the contract price from $256.742.14 to $257,329.32. All work under this contract was satisfactorily completed as of July 2. 1987. The contract was awarded for the low bid price of $254.978.50. Contract Change Orders No's One and Two increased the contract price to $257.329.32. The actual final contract price is $253.170.28 due to differences of actual quantities from bid quantities on several items. We recommend that Contract Change Order No. Two be approved. and that the work be approved and accepted; and final payment be authorized at the expira- tion of the lien period.
