this item for approval,
Recommended Motion:
1. Establish one (1) position of Volunteer Coordinator (Part-Time), Range PT, $9,42
per hour.
2. Direct the Human Resources Department to update Resolution 6413, Section
Thirteen, to reflect this action,

STAFF REPORT
SUBJECT
Establish a part-time position of Volunteer Coordinator in the Parks, Recreation &
Community Services Department.
BACKGROUND
The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department has been providing services
through the Senior Companion Program (SCP) since 1975.
The Corporation for National Services has made additional funds available through the
County of San Bemardino, Department of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS), to expand
Senior Companion services,
The City of San Bernardino has an agreement with the County of San Bemardino,
Department of Aging and Adult Services to expand Senior Companion Program
services to the Morongo Basin area, Because of the distance from San Bernardino, the
time needed to coordinate this program and existing limited staff, there is a need for a
part-time Volunteer Coordinator who lives in that area to carry out these duties, There
is budgeted $9,797 annually for this position at $9,42 per hour for 20 hours a week - no
benefits except some mileage. All costs will be paid through this agreement which
commenced July 1, 2000.
Duties will including recruiting volunteers, informing potential clients of service, securing
MOU's from area service agencies, making home visits, assigning volunteers, assisting
with care plans, time sheets, training etc, The SCP Director will supervise the part-time
Volunteer Coordinator,
Presently, there is no part-time Volunteer Coordinator position in existence within the
department.
FINANCIAL INPACT
This is a grant-funded position; therefore, there is no financial impact to the General
Fund,
RECOMMENDATION
1. Establish one (1) position of Volunteer Coordinator (Part-Time), Range PT,
$9,62/hour,
2. Direct the Human Resources Department to update Resolution 6413, Section
Thirteen, to reflect this action,
