RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO OFFERING TO MAKE
AVAILABLE TO THE COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO FOR HOSPITAL PURPOSES
THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT PACIFIC AND ARDEN STREETS.
WHEREAS, the City of San Bernardino acquired from the State
of California approximately 80 acres of land which was to be used
for park purposes; and
WHEREAS, the County of San Bernardino is seeking a new site
that would be suitable for relocating its County Hospital
facilities; and
WHEREAS, the County. in its site selection process,
determined that the Arden and Pacific site was the best site for
relocating the County Hospital; and
WHEREAS, The City of San Bernardino felt that there were
other sites available within the City of San Bernardino that
would be superior to the Arden and Pacific site; and
WHEREAS, The County interpreted the City's suggestion of
locating other sites as being a refusal to cooperate with the
County in obtaining the Arden and Pacific site; and
WHEREAS, it has always been the position of the City of San
Bernardino, that if the Arden and Pacific site was the only
acceptable site to the County that said site would be made
available to the County; and
WHEREAS, The City still feels that there are other sites in
the City of San Bernardino more suitable than the Arden and
Pacific site for the County Hospital; and
WHEREAS, City recognizes that the final decision as to the
most suitable site is a matter for determination by the County of

5 WHEREAS, the relocation of the County Hospital is a matter
6 of major concern to that significant segment of the population
7 who use its services and enjoy its benefits; and
8 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON
9 COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
10 That the City will cooperate with the County in all ways
11 necessary to make the Arden and Pacific site available to the
12 County for hospital purposes and will work cooperatively to that
13 end once the County determines that this is their preferred

16 look at other sites within the City, particularly the vacant land
17 owned by the State of California on 9th Street, between
18 Tippicanoe and Del Rosa, which site was not available when the
19 County undertook the site selection process and was therefore not
20 considered by the County.
21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that should the County determine
22 that the 9th Street site is its preferred site, the City will
