May 18, 1987
- Approved CDBG Funding for Nunez Park in the amount of $85,923.
- Approved Park Construction Budget fundin'1 for Nunez Park in
the amount of $75,000.
December 5, 1988 - Adopted Resolution 88-467 approving anpl ication for 1988 Bond
Act funding for Nunez Park in the amount of 200,000.

RESOLUTION APPROVING APPLICATION FOR STAFF REPORT
PUBLIC RESOURCES GRANT OF $68,950
FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND REFURBISHMENT
OF NUNEZ PARK.
A Public Resources Account Grant in the amount of $68,950 has been approved by the
Legislature and Governor. This grant is for improvements at Nunez Park and was
received by the City through the efforts of Senator Ruben Ayala. The City must now
make formal application for the funds and a resolution authorizing application is
required as part of the process.
The City is in the process of developing the west end of Nunez Park. In addition,
the lighting on three (3) ballfields has been scheduled for upgrading to be more
efficiently operated and to provide a better, safer playing environment.
Development includes grading landscaping, irrigation systems, walkways, and park
furnishings such as picnic tables, trash receptacles, BBQ's, and play equipment.
Upgrading of the ballfield lighting will include removal of the old poles and
fixtures and replacement with fewer poles and energy efficient fixtures which ar.e
engineered to produce better lighting thus providing a safer play area.
The addition of this grant amount will enable this Department to include the lighting
portion of the project in the first phase of development and let the City begin to
reap the benefits of a more effective and efficient ballfield operation at Nunez
Park.

RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO APPROVING THE
APPLICATION FOR PUBLIC RESOURCES FUNDS FOR DEVELOPMENT AND
REFURBISHMENT OF PARK AND PLAYGROUND FACILITIES AT NUNEZ PARK
UNDER THE PROVISION OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA PUBLIC
RESOURCES ACCOUNT AND AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PARKS,
RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVI~S TO EXECUTE AND SUBMIT ALL
DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE THE AFORESAID PROJECTS.
WHEREAS, the Legislature and GOvernor of the State of
California have approved a grant for the project shown above:
and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and Recreation
has been delegated the responsibility for the administration
of the grant project, setting up necessary procedures: and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the State
Department of Parks and Recreation require the applicant to
certify by resolution the approval of the application prior to
submission of said application to the state: and
WHEREAS, said application contains assurances that the
applicant must comply with: and
WHEREAS, the applicant agency will enter into an agree-
ment with the State of California for subject project:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The Mayor and Common Council approve the
filing
of application for State Public Resources Grant
assistance for development and refurbishment of park and
playground facilities at Nunez Park.
SECTION 2. The Mayor and Common Council certify that the
City understands the assurances and certification in the
application:

SECTION 3. The Mayor and Common Council certify that the
city has or will have sufficient funds to operate and maintain
the project:
SECTION 4. The Mayor and Common Council certify that the
city has reviewed and understands the General provisions
contained in the state/local agreement: and appoints the
Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services as agent
of the City to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit
all documents, including but not limited to applications,
agreements, amendments, payment requests, and so on, which may
be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned project.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly
adopted by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San
Bernardino at a meeting thereof, held on
