Recommended motion:
That the Miss Teen USA All States Picnic to be held on July 20, 1989; at the
City Hall Plaza be cosponsored by the City of San Bernardino and authorize
various City Departments to provide in-kind services.

STAFF REPORT
The Main street Special Events Committee is coordinating as
"All States picnic" in conjunction with the Miss Teen USA
Pageant. The special event is scheduled to be held at the
City Hall Plaza from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., on Thursday,
July 20, 1989. A similar event was held last year and the
city of San Bernardino provided assistance and is asked to do
so again. Contestants of the 50 states and Washington, D.C.,
will be able to visit during lunch with residents and
"transplants" from each state. An admission of $1.00 will be
charged and attendees will pay for food (sack lunch or hot
dogs) and soft drinks provided by vendors. The City of San
Bernardino is asked to cosponsor the All states picnic' and
provide the following services on an in-kind basis:

Parks & Recreation
Place 450 chairs, 10 trash
cans and site clean-up
Public Buildings
Waive $100 fee for banner on
"E" Street
Police
Security during event
While there is limited planning time for this event, there
will be an obvious and positive benefit to the city of San
Bernardino and Main street project area. I recommend to the
Mayor and Common Council that the City of San Bernardino
cosponsor the All states picnic on July 20th at the city Hall
Plaza and authorize various city departments to provide in-
kind services.
