STAFF REPORT
On May 24, 1988, the O:IImmity Devel~at DeparbDant received a
memorandum (see attached) fl'an the Parks, Recreatioo and t"nmII"lity
Services DeparbDant request:in:J a transfer of fun:3s in the amount of
$5,000 fl'an the Fl( 1988/1989 aE furm!d sports courts rencJI7lltioo
project ($19,734.00). Said fun:3s will be used to pay for the upgraded
stove repl~at r-'l""" at the n..1"",TU'l Heights senior Nutriticn site.
'1he exi.st.in:J stove has been fire damaged and is su1:JstarDard for use at
the nutritioo site.
As explained in the memorandum dated JUne 13, 1988 (see attached), the
City's insurance has a deductible of $5,000 and wwld not CCNer the cost
of the repl~-..L stove.

A partioo of the sports courts project has been OCIIpleted with the use
of donated fun:3s, and, as such, a transfer of $5,000 fl'an this project
woold not hinder the exupletion of the tennis ooort resurfaciD;J project.

The oven range at Delmann Heights kitchen was recently
damaged by an internal fire. Delmann Heights is a senior
nutrition site and due to the large amount of food that is
warmed for this program, a conventional do.estic range is not
suitable.
A 36" range 15 required for replacement. Cost of the range
is $3,000. Additionally, sz,OOO is required to bring in one
phase, Z30 V utility. Del.ann Heights is solely electrical
and has never had gas uti Ilty. Consequently, prOVision for
gas would require bringing the service from the street and
would be .uch more expensive due to the extensive excavation
required. This size of range requires Z30 V electrical.
Del.ann Heights is all standard 1Z0 V. The electrical
upgrade wil I require new wiring and power panel.
A recently approved project submitted by this department was
for the resurfacing of out door courts at various parks. The
project proposed included 4 tennis courts at Perris Hill
Park. These courts were just resurfaced due to the donations
of a private benefactor. I am requesting that S5,OOO from
this project be transferred to a new project to replace the
Delmann Heights stove including installation. .
I request that this proposal be submitted to the Citizens
Committee at the earl iest possible date. Your assistance In
this matter Is appreciated.

Risk Manager John Kirwin has informed me that insurance covering the fire
damaged stove at Delmann Heights has a deductible of $5,000.00. This
substantially exceeds the purchase price of the stove and consequently
is of no use.
