The Planning Department and City Attorney's Office are
conducting a survey of municipal codes from other
jurisdictions to see whether any other cities have developed
landscape maintenance standards which could be implemented
in San Bernardino. A draft should be available for the
review of the Mayor and Common Council by the meeting of
November 3, 1986.

2 ORDINARCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO ADDING CHAPTER
19.49 TO THB SAN BERNARDINO MUNICIPAL CODE PROVIDING FOR THE
3 MAINTENANCE ARD ENFORCEMENT OF ON-SITE LANDSC~PING.

SECTION 1. Chapter 19.49 is added to the San Bernardino
Municipal Code to read as follows:
WCHAPTER 19.49
MAINTENANCE AND ENFORCEMENT OF ON-SITE LANDSCAPING

19.49.010 Maintenance of on-site landscaping.'~),),

accordance with the plans and specifications on fila in.1;Jle City
Planning Department.
19.49.020 Enforcement of landscape standards.
Enforcement of such community landscape standards shall be
17 the responsibility of the Planning Director or his designee. In
18 the event anyon-site landscaping does not meet said standards,
19 the City shall give the property owners thirty days' notice in
20 writing to remedy any deficiency or deviation from the standards.
21 The property owner shall have ten days following date of the
~ notice in which to request a hearing before the Planning
23 Commission of his or her objections to the finding of deficiency
24 or deviation. Failure to remedy any deficiency or deviation as
25 set forth in the notice shall empower the City to perform or
26 contract the.work necessary to cure said deficiencies or
27 deviations. Any costs incurred by the City for such work shall

be assessed against the property owner under the procedures and
the provisions of Chapter 3.68 of the San Bernardino Municipal

Code. Wherever the words -nuisance abatement- appear in said
Chapter such words, for purposes of this section, shall mean -on-
site landscaping.-
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was duly
adopted by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San
Bernardino at a meeting thereof, held on
