STAFF REPORT
BID SPEC: F-87-5
The proposed purchase is for One Refuse Bin Handling Truck to be utilized in daily
operations by the Public Services/Refuse Department. At the re4uest of the depart-
ment and in co-ordination with the Equipment Superintendent, appropriate specifi-
cations were prepared and furnished to area suppliers. The follQwing is a summary
of bids received.

Eleven bidders solicited. Four chose to NO BID with adequate reason given per
response form. Four chose to NO BID with no response per bid instructions. Three
bidders responded with prices. Two failed to submit bid bond. Bid bond is a mat-
erial element of the bid package. The lowest priced vendor did meet all specificat-
ion requirements in bid package.
Specification as bid have been reviewed with the Director of Public Services and the
Equipment Superintendent who concur, that the bid of Universal Mack meets specificat-
ions and requirements. It is therefore recommended that the bid be accepted for con-
tract. The amount of $80,000. was included in the 1986/87 Budget for this equipment.
$4,585.88 will come from the unappropriated reserve refuse funds.

I RESOLUTION NO.
2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AWARDING A BID TO UNIVERSAL
MACK FOR THE FURNISHING AND DELIVERY OF ONE REFUSE BIN HANDLING TRUCK TO BE
3 UTILIZED BY THE PUBLIC SERVICES/REFUSE DEPARTMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH BID
SPECIFICATION F-87-5.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BER-
5 NARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
6 SECTION 1. Universal Mack is the lowest and best bidder for the fur-
7 nishing and delivery of one refuse bin handling truck in accordance with Bid
8 Specification F-87-5 for the total amount of $84,585.88; pursuant to this
9 determination, the Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized and directed to
10 issue a purchase order for said Refuse Bin Handling Truck to said lowest and
II best bidder; such award shall only be effective upon the issuance of a pur-
12 chase order by the Purchasing Agent; and all other bids therefor are hereby
