CI'IC) OF SAN BERNARDIO - REQUEOT FOR COUNCIL AC~N STAFF REPORT The Engineering Division was requested to investigate the possibility of extending the 2-way left turn lane on 5th Street (State Route 66) between Mt. Vernon and Gardner to "J" Street. This extension would require parking to be prohibited on both sides of 5th Street. The Engineering Division conducted an attitude survey to seek inputs from local residents and businesses thit may be affected by the parking restriction. A total of 39 questionaires were delivered, 12 responses returned (3U), of which, 10 (83~) were in favor of the proposal, .5 each from businesses and residents respectively. The two oppositions were 1) Johnnies TV Service (1030 N. 5th), and 2) Mrs. Solorra Zavala (1142 W. 5th) but, recently they have changed their decision after further dicussion with City staff. It is recommended that "No Parking" be established on both sides of 5th Street, between Gardner to "J" Street, and coordination with Caltrans for the installation of a continuous 2-way left turn lane on this portion of State Route 66 in the City. . .f.i1l Attorney: Please amend Resolution 3985, Section One, Subsection (13) (b) to read: Between Mt.
