to $7,200 and directed Real Property Division to initiate
action to terminate the lease.
September 23.
1985 - Agreed to give the locomotive to SBRHS and asked City Attorney
to prepare an agreement to include a two year period for
restoration, $20.000 assistance allocation, some physical
assistance and some reversionary and protection clauses.

STAFF REPORT
The City is presently paying $175.00 per month on a month-to-month basis for the
rental of Viaduct Park:~The rental agreement cannot be terminated until the
property is restored to its original condition.
The Depot Building is the only item left on the Viaduct Park property which needs
to be disposed of in order to terminate the rental agreement and to turn the land
back over to the Santa Fe Land Company.
Councilman Hernandez has been in contact with a Mr. Danny Castro who has expressed
a desire to acquire the Depot Building in order to restore and display it ~or
children in the Muscoy area. Mr. Castro has indicated that he would need financial
assistance to move the building from Viaduct Park to Kern Street in Muscoy and
Councilman Hernandez has recommended that $300.00 be approved for that purpose. Mr.
Castro indicated that he could have the building moved by November 30 if the
approval is given at the next Council meeting. As soon as the building is moved.
the Parks Division will be able to finalize restoration of the property.
Funds are available in the account which was established for removal of the loco-
motive and restoration of the property which could be used for assisting Mr. Castro.
In order 'to expedite the termination of the rental agreement and save the monthly
rental expenditure and the expenses of relocating the Depot Building to another city
property. it is recommended that the Depot Building be donated to Mr. Castro and
that $300.00 be authorized for financial assistance to Mr. Castro to move the
building to its new location.
JUSTIFICATION FOR PLACEMENT IN THE SUPPLEMENTAL AGENDA
The action needs to be approved at the October 20 meeting of the Mayor and Council
so that there will be sufficient time to make all the arrangements for moving the
building by November 30th.
