Two old gas stations and house and garage. At the request of the Superintendent of Building and Safety a formal bid was administered for complete demolition of the sites, Bids were publicly opened and declared on 9/9/86. The following is a summary of bids re- ceived. COMPANY J,B"J. COMPANY WARREN DUNCAN CONTRACTOR TOTAL PRICE INCL. TAX NO BID $22,900.00 Eighteen bidders were solicited, two bidders responded. Spot checks again reflect busy season by some. Purchasing has observed that when vendors encounter a demolition that is a gas station they qualify their bids. Their reasons for this are the fast changing requirements of , the EPA, various Fire Departments, various cities and counties. The onsite hazardous materials inspection after tanks are opened up and the requirements to be met by di- rection onsite impact their bids. Therefore most demolition contractors offer in the bid "Any new requirements or permits required before or during process of the jOb there will be an appropriate additional charge". This makes it difficult to represent to Council a firm bid when the situation onsite requires some other activity by the EPA, The bid of Warren Duncan Contractor has been reviewed with the Superintendent of Build- ing and Safety who concurs that is meets specifications and requirements. It is there- fore recommended that the bid be accepted for contract. Funding is from demolition assessment. h'~ James Robbins Superintendent of Building & Safety 75~0264 o .....~~ o o o 1 2 3 4 RESOLUTION NO.
