Synopsis of Previous Council action:
May, 1986 Requested that a Request for Proposals, for contracting out
custodial services for various public buildings throughout the
City, be prepared, and that it be reviewed by one of the Chamber
of Commerce Committees,

recommendation.

STAFF REPORT
Providing custodial services for the three branch libraries was included
in the contract documents as Schedule XI, The low bid was submitted by American
Building Maintenance Company in the amount of $11,332.20.
An amount of $91,857 is included in the 1986-87 Budget, under Account
No. 105-471-53115 for providing custodial services for the Central and three
branch libraries. Of this amount, $15,578 is designated for the three branch
libraries.
Monitoring the Contractor's operations, to insure compliance with the
specifications, will be the responsibility of the facility managers. A con-
ference will be held with the Contractor and facility managers before work is
commenced to review requirements of the specifications and responsibilities
of the facility managers,
The Agreement has been revised by the City Attorney's office to
incorporate the revisions approved at the Council Meeting of 9-22-86.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AWARDING A CONTRAC
3 TO AMERICAN BUILDING MAINTENANCE COMPANY FOR PROVIDING CUSTODIAL
SERV ICES FOR THE THREE BRANCH LIBRAR IES.

BE IT RESOLVED 8Y THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
5 SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
6 SECTION 1. American Building Maintenance Company is the
7 lowest responsible bidder for providing custodial services for the
8 three branch libraries, in accordance with Schedule XI
9 of Plan No. 7021, for the total amount of $11,332.20,
10 and a contract is awarded to said bidder accordingly, but such
11 award shall be effective only upon the contract being fully exe-
12 cuted by the parties; all other bids therefor are hereby rejected;
13 and the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute said
14 contract on behalf of the City; a copy of the contract is attached
15 hereto, marked Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by reference
16 as fully as though set forth at length.
17 SECTION 2. This contract and any amendments or modifica-
18 tions thereto shall not take effect or become operative until
19 fully signed and executed by the parties and no party shall be
20 obligated hereunder until the time of such full execution. No
21 oral agreements, amendments, modifications or waivers are
22 intended or authori zed and shall not be impl ied from any act or
23 course of conduct of any party.
