Synopsis of Previous Council action:
Approval of the Annual Police and Fire Salary Adjustments as mandated by Section 186 of,
the City Charter was approved on September 9, 1986.
The Council Personnel Committee, during its September 17, 1986, meeting, approved an
hourly rate increase for the part time/temporary class of Headstart Typist Clerk.

STAFF REPORT
The documents which established the Law Enforcement Trainee
and Fire Fighter Trainee programs stipulated that the sala-
ries would be 80% of the salary paid to Police Officer (P-l),
Step A and Fire Fighter (P-ll, Step A.
As a result of the annual police and fire salary adjustments
mandated by Section 186 of the city Charter, the salaries for
the Law Enforcement and Fire Fighter Trainee's will be
adjusted accordingly via the attached resolution.
The increase in salary will have an impact of $4,500 in the
Fire Department, and $3,800 in the Police Department.
The increase in the hourly rate of the Headstart Typist Clerk
is grant funded.
