STAFF REPORT
BID SPEC: F-85-25
The proposed contract action is for the annual Mixed-In-Transit Concrete requirement for
the City. Specifications were prepared, published and furnished to area suppliers. The
bids were publicly opened and declared on June 10, 1985. The following is a summary of
bids received:

While the unit price of Livingston-Graham CL-500-C-2500 is slightly higher than Robertsons
Ready-Mix Inc. the Purchasing Agent feels it's in the best advantage of the City not to
split the annual requirement order.
The Director of Public Services/Street Division has indicated the stand-by times have not
been exceeded as far back as can be remembered.
A stand-by of five (5) minutes plus five (5) minutes per cubic yard delivered is allowed.
An observation of this bidding is that the suppliers are moving to larger trucks. Nine
(g) cubic yard capacity VS seven (7) cubic yard capacity. Because we have amix in size
trucks at present and our-spec's call for seven (7) yards the Purchasing Agent feels the
spec's next year should reflect nine (g) cubic yard capacity callout and gain an extra
ten minutes stand-by time. Although this has not been a factor in the past it's consis-
tent with the industry trend.
The Director of Public Services has reviewed specifications as bid and concurs that the
bid of Livingston-Graham meets specification and requirements. It is therefore recommended
that the bid be accepted for contract.

CONTRACT TO LIVINGSTON-GRAHAM FOR THE FURNISHING AND DELIVERING
3 OF MIXED IN TRANSIT CONCRETE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATION
F-85-25.

5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:

7 SECTION "1. That LIVINGSTON-GRAHAM is the lowest and best
8 bidder for the furnishing and delivering of mixed in transit
9 concrete on an as required basis for a one-year period, for a
10 per cubic yard price of $42.14 including tax for Class-520-C-2500,
11 $44.07 including tax for Class-560-C-3250, $4l.l9 including tax
12 for Class-500-C-2500, $25.13 including tax for Class-lOO-E-lOO,
13 all in accordance with Specification No. F-85-25; that all other
14 bids therefor are hereby rejected; that the bid of LIVINGSTON-
15 GRAHAM therefor is hereby accepted: and that the purchasing Agent
16 of the City of San Bernardino is hereby authorized to issue
17 purchase orders therefor.
