Synopsis of Previous Council action:
September 8, 1986, Council vacated the Board of Building Commissioners' requirement
for a garage at this location. It was also directed that a report regarding the
reconstruction be provided at the next regular meeting of the Council.
Recommended motion:
The Board of Building Commissioners' order of abatement of nuisance at 638 L Street
of March 7, 1986, be vacated.

STAFF REPORT
PROBLEM:
The rehabilitation of a dwelling unit at 638 L Street, including the construction
of a garage, per the order of the Board of Building Commissioners,
RECOMMENDATION:
The Board of Building Commissioners' order of abatement of nuisance at 638 L Street
be vacated.
FINDINGS:
The action of the Board of Building Commissioners taken March 7, 1986, was appealed
to the Mayor and Common Council. The Veterans Administration indicated an intent to
rehabilitate the dwelling unit, but declined to construct a garage as directed by
the Board.
After due consideration, the Common Council waived the requirement for the garage
and directed the rehabilitated building have its final inspection.
The unit was given a final inspection on September 9, 1986. It passed that inspec-
tion and utilities were reconnected.
The only remaining action is the vacation of the order of the Board of Building
Commissioners of March 7, 1986.
