I CI10 OF SAN BERNARDIO - REQUE()r FOR COUNCIL AC'OoN STAFF REPORT The Engineering Division has received a request from the Police Depart- ment to establish a "No Parking at Any Time" zone on City streets surrounding the Meadowbrook Apartment Complex, to help control excessive crime and drug- related problems in the area. These streets include: Sierra Way - West side only, between 2nd Street and Rialto Avenue Mt. View Avenue - East side only, between 2nd Street and Rialto Avenue, except the.handicapped parking space. Second Street - South side only, between Sierra Way to a point 500 feet to the west. * Rialto Avenue - Northside only, between Sierra Way and Mt. View Avenue A survey was jointly conducted by staff from both the Police Department and Engineering Division. The occupants of the Meadowbrook Apartments as well as all the businesses in the area which may be affected were contacted. All parties contacted were not opposed to the proposed parking prohibition. He is concerned with the retaining of existing passenger loading and unloading zone in front of the Meadow- brook Tower. In fact. the existing loading ened to eighty (80') feet. only applies to the area east south side of Second Street to zone is proposed to be length- The proposed "No Parking" zone of the loading zone a~ong the Sierra Way. No change is required in the Resolution. The agenda can be resubmitted by including a supplemental sentence under "Second Street" in the Staff Report, i.e., "Existing pass- enger loading zone in front of Meadowbrook Tower will be retained." RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING RESOLUTION. NO. 39as ENTITLED IN PART "A RESOLUTION . . . PROHIBITING PARKING UPON CERTAIN DESIGNATED STREETS OR PORTIONS THEREOF. . ." TO ESTABLISH A NO PARKING ZONE ON PORTIONS OF MT. VIEW AVENUE, RIALTO AVENUE, SECOND STREET AND SIERRA WAY. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: SECTION l. Resolution No. 39aS, which prohibits parking on certain designated streets or portions thereof, Section One Subsection (23.0l) MT. VIEW AVENUE is amended by adding thereto Paragraph (d) to read: "(d) Between the centerline of Second Street and the centerline of Rialto Avenue, except the handicap parking space l60 feet south of Second Street, applicable to the east side only." SECTION 2. Resolution No. 39aS, which prohibits parking on certain designated streets or portions thereof, Section One , Subsection (27.l) RIALTO AVENUE is amended to read: "(a) Between Sierra Way and Mt. View Avenue, applicable to the north side only. (b) Between "E" Street and a point 300 feet west, applicable to the south side only. (c) Between a point 250 feet west of Mt. Vernon Avenue and Mt. Vernon Avenue, applicable to the north side only. (d) Between the centerline of Mt. Vernon Avenue and a point 210 feet west, applicable to the south side only.
