STAFF REPORT
PROBLEM:
Appeal of Board of Building Commissioners Order of Abatement
1348-1358 West Fifth Street
FINDINGS:
On March 7, 1986, the Board of Building Commissioners ordered abatement of a
nuisance at 1348-1358 West Fifth Street. The following improvements were
required within 30 days:
The walls and concrete on each lot to be removed; the lots cut back five feet
and graded to a 2:1 slope.
This action was appealed to the Mayor and Common Council on April 21,1986, at
which time the abatement was held in abeyance for 90 days and new conditions
established.
1. Work to be done to improve the appearance of the walls - namely painting.
2. That grass or ivy be planted for erosion control, and
3. That the stairwell be blocked off to correct unsafe condition.
An inspection of the sites on August 25, 1986, indicates:
1. The wall has been repaired and painted.
2. Irrigation and plantings are in place on the lots, and
3. The stairs have been removed.
The conditions set forth by the Mayor and Common Council have been met.
