necessity require construction of Daley Canyon Road creating Assess-
ment District No. 966 and ordering the work.
Resolution No. 86-236 adopted awarding a contract to Matich Corp.
for the low bid price of $42,581.00.

STAFF REPORT
All work on this project was satisfactorily completed as of August 8,
1986.
The contract was awarded to the Matich Corporatiop for the low bid price
of $42,581.00. One Contract Change Order was approved in an amount not to
exceed $1700.00. Actual costs on the change order were $768.57. The actual
final contract price is $43,218.02, due to the increase authorized by Change
Order No.1 and some minor variation in the final quantities from the estimated
quantities in the bid documents.

Item No. 1 on the Change Order was for regrading for curb and gutter at
1806 Daley Canyon Road. This revision was necessary in order to meet the on-
site driveway constructed by the owner, Dr. John Hendy. ,A letter has been
submitted by Dr. Hendy requesting this revision and agreeing to be assessed for
the additional cost. '
The cost for this extra work was estimated at $1,400.00, but actually
amounted to $659.33. I
After the curb depression was poured for 1805 Daley Canyon Road, the
owner, Mr. Alan Smith, complained that he was unable to turn in with his truck
and horse trailer. A field investigation confirmed thisl fact. The driveway
approach was designed as wide as possible without removing existing improve-
ments, and would have been sufficient for a normal vehiclle. However, it was
not adequate for Mr. Smi th I S crew cab truck, wi th a longl wheelbase and horse
trailer. The estimate for this work was $300.00, but actually cost $109.24.
Since this was a combination of events beyond anyone's control, the additional
cost will not be assessed to the property owner but incl~ded under incidental
costs. ,

We recommend that the work be approved and that iinal payment be auth-
orized at the expiration of the lien period. !
