STAFF REPORT
The Engineering Division was requested to investigate the traffic
conditions at the intersection of Central Avenue and Pacific Street at a
recent public hearing.
Our investigation indicates that the intersection is offset by 15 feet
in the Central Avenue centerline alignment, and in addition, the sight
distance for the southbound Central Avenue traffic is somewhat impaired
by the three grown trees on the North side of Pacific Street, East of
the intersection.
Based on a critical speed of 40 m.p.h. on Pacific Street and the
criteria of providing a safe stopping sight distance of 300 feet, the
Engineering Division recommends that the first two trees East of Central
Avenue be removed and a 240 foot "No Parking" zone be established on the
North side of Pacific Street, East of Central Avenue.
This recommendation was reviewed and concurred with by the Mayor's
Traffic Safety Advisory Committee at their July 23, 1986 meeting.
City Attorney:
Please amend Resolution No. 3985, Section One, Subsection (25.1) to
include: (d) between the centerline of Central Avenue and a point 240
feet East, applicable on the North side only.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING RESOLUTION
NO. 3985 ENTITLED IN PART .A RESOLUTION . . . PROHIBITING PARKING
UPON CERTAIN DESIGNATED STREETS OR PORTIONS THEREOF . . ." TO
ESTABLISH A NO PARKING ANY TIME ZONE ON THE NORTH SIDE OF PACIFIC
STREET BETWEEN THE CENTERLINE OF CENTRAL AVENUE AND A POINT 240
FEET EAST.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
7 SECTION 1. Resolution No. 3985, which prohibits parking

upon certain designated streets or portions thereof, Section One
Subsection (25.1) PACIFIC STREET is amended by adding thereto
Paragraph (d) to read:
11 "(d) Between the centerline of Central Avenue and a point
12 240 feet east, applicable to the north side only."
