STAFF REPORT
The City of San Bernardino was awarded a grant from the Department of Housing
and Urban Development. The purpose of this grant is to provide training to
a group of citizens and City staff on the utilization of volunteers to leverage
local public funds and other resources to better achieve local Beautification
Program goals and objectives. This grant will focus on the development of short
and long-term projects which will utilize volunteer and volunteer resources
to develop and implement viable projects.
The City's responsibilities are two-fold: l} provide the volunteers needed for
the training session; and 2} design a management plan and program on which the
volunteers can work.
In light of the possible Revenue Sharing cuts, this program should give City
staff and citizens better leveraging tools for funds the City receives for
various Neighborhood Improvement Programs.
