On Saturday, August 2, 1986, the Big League All- Star team from San Bernardino's District 43 defeated Santa Ana to win the Southern California Divisional Championship. It al so earned them the right to represent Southern California in the Western Regional Tournament. The Western Regional' Big League Tournament is being held this year in Sacramento, California from August 3 through August 8, 1986. The Big League is the high school age division of Little League Baseball. The tournament they are participating in is the equivalent to the one held in San Bernardino, except for the age level and that only the divisional winners are present. The boys all come from the City of San Bernardino and represent the four high schools and San Bernardino Vally College. They will be identified as representing San Bernardino in this tournament for the right to advance to the World Series. This is the first trip to the regionals ever for a San Bernardino Big League team. It is the responsibility of the local area to provide transportation to the,Regionals. The District tried to find a bus at no cost, however, with limited amount of time to transport the boys one eventually had to be rented. The cost of the bus is $2,200. John O'Grady, District Administrator for District 43, has requested what ever assistance the Mayor and Common Council could provide to offset some of the costs. He would be sure that the City was given the appropriate recognition for their support. 75.0264
