Over 18,117 unpaid park,ing citations have been input and forwarded to the Department of 'Motor Vehicles (DMV) for the registered owners name and address of these vehicles, in order for final notices to be mailed out. Five hundred and eighty-five (585) of these unpaid parking citations ($14,682) have been issued to out of state registered vehicles since September 1974 to July 3, 1986. We are unable to obtain the name and address of the owners of these vehicles. Also, there are fifty-six (56) parking citations that have been issued to undercover vehicles utilized by law enforcement agencies, that we are unable to obtain information on, and we do not believe that it would be in our~est interest to pursue. There are another 974 parking citations, ($28,031) that were issued to vehicles that have since been sold to junk dealers and been written off by the Department of Motor Vehicles as being disassemble vehicles names and addresses are no longer available. It is requested that we be authorized to purge files of all delin- quent parking citations against vehicles that are: 1. Out of state vehicles, (585) (Backup available in the Public Buildings Division) 2. Undercover vehicles utilized by law enforcement agencies, (56) (Backup available in the Public Buildings Division) 3. Disassembled junked vehicles written off by DMV, (974) (Backup available in the Public Buildings Division) Total number of parking citations 1,615 ($44,056)T J. 75-0264 . o o o I , o 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THf. SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC BUILDINGS/PARKING CONTROL TO CANC!';!. 3 CERTAIN UNCOLLECTI BLE PARKING CITATIONS. 4 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY Or 5 SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: 6 SECTION 1. Recitals. 7 A. The Public Buildings/Parking Control Division is 8 currently attempting to purge its files of all uncollectible 9 delinquent parking citations against vehicles prior to 10 implementing an in-house computerized parking citation program. 11 B. Citations issued to five hundred and eighty-five out of 12 state registered vehicles. fifty-six undercover vehicles, and nine 13 hundred seventy-four vehicles written off by the Department of 14 Motor Vehicles as being disassembled are uncollectible. 15 SECTION 2.
