1. The Council Personnel Committee approved the transfer of the Safety Classes
into the Management Unit at their meeting of May 19, 1988.
2. The Council Personnel Committee approved the title change for the Director
of.Telecommunications at their meeting of June 9, 1988.

STAFF REPORT
The Resolution l0584 establishes the titles of the classifi-
cations and places those classification in the appropriate
bargaining or non-bargaining unit. It does not establish pay
rates nor the number of authorized positions.
This amendment to the resolution is mainly a -house cleaning-
of actions previously taken by the Council but not formalized
in resolution. Such is the case of Civil Service Board Chief
Examiner, Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Battalion Chief,
Chief of Police and Police Captain. It also proposes a title
change for the CATV Coordinator to Director of Telecommunica-
tions, as recommended by City Administrator's office, to
recognize the growth of that position. On 6-9-88, the Council
Personnel Committee approved this change in the title and
salary.
Additionally, the Police Lieutenants are proposed to go from
the Police Safety Unit to the Management Unit as negotiated
with the Police Safety Unit and recommended by the Council
Personnel Committee at its May 19, 1988, meeting.
