STAFF REPORT
The Recreation Superintendent requested salary increases for 5 part~time
classifications which have not received increases in 3 years. In addition.
he requested the establishment of a 3-step pay plan for those 5 classifica-
tions plus 3 lifeguard classifications. Adoption of the attached resolution
will implement these proposals.
This action will keep our'Recreation Division competitive with other public
agencies and enable the City to compete with private employers of summer
workers who must raise the minimum waqe they pay from $3.35 to $4.25 per
hour effective July 1, 1988. Funding for these increases is included in the
proposed 1988-89 budget submitted to you at your May 16. 1988. meeting. The
Council Personnel Committee approved the proposal at its May 19. 1988. meeting.
