This tank will eliminate the need to take fire equipment for this station to other stations in order to refuel, thereby improving time efficiency and increasing equipment availability. The Contractor has agreed to install the fuel tank, complete and in-place for the lump sum price of $44,997.00, which would increase the contract price from $788,690.00 to $833,687.00. The tank will be constructed with a double steel wall, with fiberglass coating, and includes a leak monitoring system, as re- quired by EPA. A permit from EPA will also be included. We estimate the balance for contingencies is $38,810. Therefore, approval of this change order will result in a shortfall of contingency funds in the amount of $6,187.00. The Fire Depart- ment is unable to identify a source of the necessary supplemental funding at this time. However, funds could be allocated in the 1988/89 Fire Department Budget to finance this additional cost. Work is almost complete. The Contractor has indicated he is agreeable to the building being accepted, and the contract kept open until the tank is completed. URGENCY CLAUSE The contractor is almost completed with this project. A decision on whether or not the fuel storage tank will be installed needs to be made before all work is completed, since additional costs might be incurred if the contractor had to move his forces back on the site. 04-21-88 75-0264 . .
