RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF
$4,000 FOR EXTRA SERVICES PURSUANT TO AN
AGREEMENT WITH FLORIAN/MARTINEZ ASSOCIATES

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION STAFF REPORT
OF $4,000 FOR EXTRA SERVICES PURSUANT TO
AN AGREEMENT WITH FLORIAN/MARTINEZ ASSO-
CIATES RELATIVE TO ADDITIONAL ARCHITEC-
TURAL SERVICES FOR THE SECCOMBE LAKE STATE
PARK.
Review of working drawings and pre-bid estimates for construction of
the one large little league ballfield building indicated that con5truc~
tion costs would be approximately.$300,OOO. In addition, the building
configuration indicated that future maintenance costs would be exorbitant
and operation of the single building with two separate concession/storage/
restroom facilities may create problems with using parties.
After much discussion and review with the Architect, City Engineering
Staff and State Architect, it was decided that a more feasible approach
would be to build two separate concession/storage/restroom facilities,
one for each of the little league fields. Estimates by the City Engineering
Division staff project a construction cost of apprOXimately $200,000 for the
two separate buildings which have been designed by City Engineers and which
are consistent with such facilities which are located at our other little
league fields. Operation and maintenance of these separate buildings will
not pose a problem.
In accordance with the original agreement the Architect is authorized to bill
separately for additional work required by the City. The amount of savings
(approximately $100;000) by changing plans as indicated above justifies the
additional cost to the Architect for changing the plans and allows more to be
done in the overall project by redistribution of the savings.
Staff agrees that the price requested for the additional work to the plans
and specifications by the Architect is reasonable and recommends approval
of the resolution.

CITY
Recitals.
WHEREA S ,
(a)
City and Architect entered into an agreement on October
1, 1987 (Agreement), relating to architectural services to revise
previously
prepared
construction
plans for
Phase
IB
of
the
10 Seccombe Lake State Park, hereinafter referred to as "Park"; and
11
(b)
WHEREA S, pursuant to Section 5 of the Agreement, the
12 City desires that certain changes be made in the revised plans
13 for the Park, which will require extra services by Architect;
14 and,
15
(c)
WHEREA S,
pursuant to Section 5(b) of Agreement,
16 Architect is entitled to additional compensation in the amount of
17 $4,000.00 for such extra services; and,
18 (d) WHEREAS, such extra services have been authorized in
19 writing by the Project Manager, a copy of which authorization is
20 attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof.
21 THEREFORE;
22 IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council that
23 pursuant to Section 5 (b) of Agreement, an additional $4,000.00
24 shall be appropriated to Account No. 243-363-57618-01813, as
25 payment for extra services performed under Agreement.
