Civitan Little League has requested financial assistance for its utility costs associated with its use of Aquinas High School ballfield. Civitan Little League was the principal user of Fiscalini Field from 1982 to 1986 and its cooperation in securing an alternative playing site facilitated in securing the minor league baseball program. In utilizing a private field, Civ1tan becomes the only youth league in the City required to pay utility costs, The league is agreeable to paying utility costs once adequate revenues are generated from its newly opened snack bar. This is expected to occur for the 1989 season. The league's estimate of the utility costs is accurate. A savings of approximately $17,000 is projected for the Recreation Division Electrical Energy account (001-383-53402). It is therefore recommended that Civitan Little League be provided financial assistance in the amount of $952 from savings in the Recreation Electrical Energy account. April 20, 1988 7:i~0264 . e o o March 28, 1988 o Mr. john Kramer Recreational Superintendent City of San Bernardino San Bernardino. California Dear Mr. Kramer; Once again baseball season is upon us. and again Civitan Little League along with three (3) other leagues must to turn to the City of San Bernardino for financial assistance. As you may remember last year. Civitan Little League, along with two (2) other leagues moved to Aquinas High School to share their playing field for the youth in the junior. senior and big leagues. This move was to accommodate the new San Bernardino Spirit team. However, part of our agreement with Aquinas High School requires that we pay for our portion of the utilities (field lights) used. Last year the projected cost for the season was $1,148.00. The final costs came under that projection and the players, parents. and leagues appreciated your financial assistance. This year East Base Line. Wildwood, Del Rosa, and Civitan Little Leagues have joined together to play at Aquinas High SchooL These three leagues combined amount to approximately 150 players. We are very grateful to the City of San Bernardino for providing Civitan Little League with our new snack bar. However, since the snack bar was not completed until the end of our playing season. we were unable to raise any revenue in which to begin the 1988 season. So once again, we must approach you for the necessary funds to begin our playing season. Our projected estimate for the cost of lighting has been listed below. The estimated cost: Total nights: 68 nights at 3.5 hours usage per night Totat cost: I'UO X 238 hours- 1952.00 Approximately four (4) lights are in need of replacement at Aquinas. Civitan will be responsible for a portion of the costs necessary to make these repairs. We would like to ask your assistance with the purchase of these bulbs, just as you did during the 1987 season. Your crews most graciously assisted us with the adjustment of the lights, and once again we would like to enlist their assistance with this task. '- - -- .~ o o o 2. Your assistance with this fees, replacement, and adjustment will be greatly appreciated by Civitan Little League, as well as the other leagues playing at Aquinas High School. Our move from Fiscalini Field has been less stressful because of the assistance of the City of San Bernardino.
