MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BY AND BETWEEN THE MAYOR AND THE
COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO WITH RESPECT TO NOTICE
TO BE PROVIDED BY THE MAYOR, MAYOR PRO TEM AND THE FIRST ALTERNATE
ON THEIR ABSENCE FROM THE CITY.
WHEREAS, the health, safety and welfare of the citizens
of the City of San Bernardino requires that at all times and in
cases of emergency there be a Chief Executive in charge of its
operations 1 and,
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of San Bernardino provides
that the Mayor of the City shall constitute such Chief Executive
and in his or her absence that such Chief Executive shall be the
Mayor Pro Tempore 1 and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to Rules of the Common Council the Mayor
Pro Tempore alternates on a monthly basis between the Members of
the Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby understood and agreed by the
parties to this Memorandum of Understanding as follows:
l. When the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tempore or the alternate is
leaving for a destination within the State of California, each
sha~l notify the other ~~~ a telephone number or numbers where
each can be reached in case of emergency.
2. When the destination of the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tempore or
the alternate is outside the State of California, each shall
provide the other:
a) notice of destinationl
b) date and time of departure 1
c) anticipated date and time of return 1 and,
d) a telephone number or numbers where the party can be
reached.
