1. Establish the salary for Senior Deputy City Attorney at Range 4568, $7,544-
$9,144/month.
2. Direct Hwnan Resources to update Resolution 6413, Section Fourteen to reflect this
particular action.

STAFF REPORT
SUBJECT
To establish a salary for the position of Senior Deputy City Attorney.
BACKGROUND
In an effort to provide the highest level of legal services for both the community and City
Departments, the City Attorney's office maintains a number of different classifications including
a Senior Deputy City Attorney.
The Senior Deputy City Attorney classification has not been utilized for a number of years.
Because of this it was not included in the Classification and Compensation Study, which was
implemented by the Mayor and Common Council on October 1, 2001 and, as such, no new
salary was established.
In an effort to correct this oversight and provide the City Attorney with the ability to utilize this
classification, staff is recommending that a salary for the Senior Deputy City Attorney be set at
Range 4568, $7,544-$9,144/month; this is approximately 10"1.. above the Deputy City Attorney
IV and approximately 15% below the Senior Assistant City Attorney.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Any cost associated with filling this position will be offset by salary savings resulting from
vacancies maintained by the City Attorney.
RECOMMENDATION
1. Establish the salary for Senior Deputy City Attorney at Range 4568, $7,544-
$9, 144/month.
2. Direct Hwnan Resources Department to update Resolution 6413, Section Fourteen to
reflect this particular action.
