SUBJECT
Authorize the Purchasing Manager to execute Change Order No. One with R. Moody Construction, Inc. for the
installation of two large catch basins with removable baskets in the total amount of $1,800.00.
BACKGROUND
On November 6, 2000, the City of San Bernardino Council adopted Resolution No. 2000-322 for the execution of
a contract with R. Moody Construction, Inc. for the construction of twenty kennels at the Animal Shelter located
at 333 Chandler Place, San Bernardino in the total amount of $121,920.
During the construction of the kennels, it came to staffs attention that there was a new catch basin system that
could be used to help with the drainage of animal waste products from the kennels. Problems with foreign
materials, i.e. leashes, collars, etc., cause continued blockages that must be cleared bi-monthly by plumbing staff.
To help reduce these risks and hazards R. Moody Construction personnel suggested the installation of two large
catch basins with removable baskets, which would help prevent the clogging of the upstream drainage system
from the kennels and permit easier cleanout of any clogs that may occur downstream.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The cost of this change order request is $1,800.00, which will be funded by Animal Control's budget
124-233-5704-0000. It is anticipated that funds will be available as a result of greater than expected revenues
from the shelter.
RECOMMENDATION (S):
Adopt Resolution.

3 SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF CHANGE ORDER NO
ONE TO THE CONTRACT WITH R. MOODY CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR
4 ADDITION OF TWO LARGE CATCH BASINS AT THE ANIMAL SHELTER IN
AMOUNT OF $1,800.00.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Purchasing Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute
Change Order No. One to the existing contract with R. Moody Construction, Inc. for the addition
of two large catch basins at the Animal Shelter at 333 Chandler Place in San Bernardino per
Specification No. FOI-41 and per the quotation dated July 18,2001 in the total amount of
$1,800.00.
SECTION 2. The authorization to execute the above-referenced Change Order No. One
to the contract with R. Moody Construction, Inc. for the aforementioned changes is rescinded if
not issued within sixty (60) days of the passage of this resolution.
