STAFF REPORT
Subiect:
Authorization to Establish A "No Parking Any Time" Zone on the west side of Meridian Avenue
between 2nd Street and 300 feet south of 2nd Street.
Back2round:
The Traffic Engineering Section received a request to prohibit parking on the west side of
Meridian Avenue between 2nd Street and 300 feet south of 2nd Street. The request was received
from residents of a mobile home park located on the southwest comer of Meridian A venue and
2nd Street. The primary driveway to the mobile home park is located on the west side of
Meridian Avenue approximately 150 feet south of 2nd Street. The requestors claims that cars
constantly park adjacent to the driveway, creating visibility obstructions to motorists attempting
to enter Meridian A venue from the mobile home park.
Traffic Engineering Staff evaluated the request. There is a large apartment complex located
directly across Meridian A venue from the mobile home park. Parking on the public streets on
the perimeter of the apartment complex has been prohibited for the last several years. As a
result, tenants and visitors of the apartment complex park their vehicles on the unrestricted
streets in this area, One of the unrestricted areas is adjacent to the mobile home park driveway.
Staff concurs with the requestor's concerns,
Therefore, staff recommends that the request be approved and that parking be prohibited on the
west side of Meridian Avenue between 2nd Street and 300 feet south of 2nd Street. Parking on the
east side of Meridian A venue within these limits is already prohibited.
The Traffic Safety Committee evaluated this issue on June 13,2001. The Committee concurred
with the findings of staff and therefore recommended that parking be prohibited on the west side
of Meridian Avenue between 2nd Street and 300 feet south of 2nd Street.
Financial Impact:
The estimated cost of $ 500.00 for installing the new signs will come from General Fund
Account No. 001-187-5111 (Signing and Striping Materials),

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
