STAFF REPORT
The traffic approaching the intersection of Mill Street
and Eucalyptus Avenue was increased dramatically by the opening
of the new Rialto Senior High School on 9-8-92.
Traffic counts, taken since the date the school opened,
show that warrants are met for both a four-way stop and traffic
signals. Therefore, we recommend that the installation of stop
signs be approved.
A verbal understanding has been reached with the City of
Rialto and Rialto School District relative to installation of
traffic signals. Each of these 3 agencies would finance 1/3 of
the cost of the traffic signals, under the terms of this under-
standing.
The Cit': of Rialto will act as lead agency, and prepare a
Co"operative Agreement for our approval..
This item has not been presented to the Traffic Safety
Advisory Committee, due to insufficient time.
URGENCY CLAUSE:
The City of Rialto will be considering installation of stop signs
at this intersection during a special Council meeting on Friday.
9-18-'92. It will be necessary for this item to be considered at
the Council meeting of 9-21--92, in order for the stop signs to be
installed on 9-22--92 as scheduled with thE'> Cit). of Rialto.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING
RESOLUTION NO. 655 ENTITLED, IN PART, "A RESOLUTION.
DESIGNATING CERTAIN STREETS OR PORTIONS THEREOF AS THROUGH
HIGHWAYS. . ;" AND PROVIDING THAT EUCALYPTUS AVENUE IS A THROUGH
HIGHWAY AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH MILL STREET.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: R~solution No. 655, which designates certain
streets or portions thereof as through highways, Section 1, is
amended by adding Subsection 4.3 to read:
"4.3 EUCALYPTUS AVENUE
At its intersection with Mill Street."
