A total of 8 bids were received, ranging from $125,000.00
to $154,333.50. The low bid of $125,000 is 11.5% below the
Engineer's Estimate of $141,200.
Below is the total estimated project cost, based on the
actual low bid price:
Construction Contract $ 125,000
Preliminary Engineering (W.O. #1881) 10,000
Construction Engineering (W.O. #1880) 10,500
Electrical Service (Edison) 500
Sub-Total $ 146,000
Contingencies (15%):!: 22,000
TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST $ l68,OOO
Caltrans has reviewed the bids and concurs with the award
to the low bidder.
An amount of $185,000 has been approved by SANBAG from
Federal-Aid Urban Funds to finance the costs that will be
incurred for this project. Federal-Aid Urban Funds can be used
to finance 100% of the costs, since all the work will be on
traffic signals. These funds have been allocated under Account
No. 242-362-57382.
We recommend that a contract be awarded to the low bidder.

RESOLUTION NO.
OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AWARDING A
INC. FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL MODIFICATIONS AND
VERNON AVENUE, FROM FIFTH STREET TO BASE LINE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
DBX,
Inc. is the lowest responsible bidder
for:
Traffic Signal Modifications and Interconnect on Mt. Vernon
8 Avenue, from Fifth Street to Base Line Street, per Plan No. 8135.
9 A contract is awarded accordingly to said bidder for the total
10 amount of $125,000.00, but such award shall be effective only
11 upon the contract being fully executed by both parties. All
12 other bids, therefore, are hereby rejected. The Mayor is hereby
13 authorized and directed to execute said contract on behalf of the
14 City; a copy of the contract is on file in the office of the City
15 Clerk and incorporated herein by reference as fully as though set
16 forth at length.
17 SECTION 2. This contract and any amendment or modifica-
18 tions thereto shall not take effect or become operative until
19 fully signed and executed by the parties and no party shall be
20 obligated hereunder until the time of such full execution. No
21 oral agreements, amendments, modifications or waivers are
22 intended or authorized and shall not be implied from any act or
23 course of conduct of any party.
24 SECTION 3. This resolution is rescinded if the parties
25 to the contract fail to execute it within sixty (60) days of the
26 passage of this resolution.
