F-93-02
The proposed purchase is for Annual Landscape Maintenance of
seventeen (17) locations throughout the City. The maintenance
service is to be utilized in daily operations by the Parks
Department.
At the request of the department, appropriate specifications were
prepared, published and furnished to area suppliers. Bids were
publicly opened and declared on June 30, 1992. The following is a
summary of bids received.

This maintenance bid was solicited in two categories. Category I
was the department's presently existing tasks and requirements.
Category II specified changes and modifications in the task and
requirements, namely updating to a tighter specification due to
increasing awareness in such areas as vandalism, debris disposal,
irrigation repairs and non-compliance penalty.
The Parks Department wished to move ahead to a more current and
adequate specification that addressed the above problems, providing
it was in the range of affordability. The Parks Department had a
good feel for the existing specification's 1992/93 dollar cost but
was not sure of the impact category II would have dollarwise on the
preferred requirements change. After the bid opening the Parks
Department reviewed both categories for acceptance (see attached
memo from Parks Department).
Specifications as bid have been reviewed with the Superintendent of
Parks, Recreation and Community Services who concurs that the bid
of L. Barrios Category II meets specifications and requirements. It
is therefore recommended that the bid be accepted for contract. The
equipment funding is in the 1992/93 budget.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AWARDING A PURCHASE
ORDER TO L. BARRIOS FOR THE FURNISHING AND DELIVERY OF LANDSCAPE
MAINTENANCE CONTRACT FOR SEVENTEEN (17) LOCATIONS, TO BE UTILIZED
BY THE PARKS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT IN
ACCORDANCE WITH BID SPECIFICATION F-93-02.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN BERNARDINO A FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That L. Barrios is the lowest and best
responsible bidder for the furnishing and delivery of Landscape
Maintenance Contract for Seventeen (17) Lacations in accordance
with Bid Specification F-93-02 for the total amount of $56,568.00;
pursuant to this determination, the Purchasing Agent is hereby
authorized and directed to issue a purchase order for said
Landscape Maintenance Contract for Seventeen (17) Locations to
said lowest and best responsible bidder; such award shall only be
effective upon the issuance of a Purchase Order by the Purchasing
Agent; and all other quotations therefor are hereby rejected.
SECTION 2. The authorization to execute the above
referenced purchase order is rescinded if it is not issued within
sixty (60) days of the passage of this resolution.
