In accordance with Section 186, the salary adjustments to be effective 8/1/87 have been determined and are set forth in the amendment to Resolution 6429. For your additional information, percentage and dollar increases at the top step are noted below. As a result of the annual police and fire salary adjustments mandated by Section 186 of the City Charter, the salaries for the Law Enforce- ment and Fire Fighter Trainee's are adjusted accordingly. The increase in salary will have an impact of $2250 (FY87-88)' in the Fire Department and $5080 (FY87-88) in the Police Department. ~ During the Executive Session of March g, 1987, a salary study was authorized for management and ,confidential employees. The study was confirmed in Resol- tion 87-83, entitled "RESOLUTION AMENDING MANAGEMENT AND CONFIDENTIAL EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION ANp BENEFITS." In this Resolution, it was agreed that "said imolementation shall become ef- fective on or before July 1, 1987. The findings' of the survey shall be phased in on a uniform basis for all employees affected thereby". The attached Resolutions amend Resolution 6413, and provide for the implemen- tation of the salary study as recommended by the salary study consultant for the Management/Confidential Group. During the same Executive Session, a salary study was authorized for the Mid- dle Management Unit. It was completed and has been negotiated into the MOU, as part of the settlement package. It is recommended for your adoption ef- fective August 31, 1987. This date is the start of the first payroll period after agreement was reached between this Unit and the City's representatives. 8/24/87 . 1 '''' RESOLUTION NO.
