STAFF REPORT
state Street access to Kendall Drive was closed off in the
early 1960s upon construction of University Parkway. A barricade
was constructed to preclude vehicles from State Street from
entering the intersection of University Parkway and Kendall
Drive in an unsafe manner.
A request has been received from the owner of the adjoining
property for the portion of State Street, north of Sheridan Road,
to be vacated. This request was based upon a desire to incorporate
this area into a development on the adjoining property.
vacation of State Street will allow its incorporation into
the adjacent property. This action will promote traffic safety
by eliminating the possibility of the entrance of traffic into a
major intersection in an awkward and unsafe manner.
We recommend that a finding be made that the vacation of
this portion of State Street is needed for health and safety
reasons.
