Allocation of supplemental funds, in the amount of $60,700 approved.
Finding made that widening is needed for health and safety reasons.

Recommended motion:
That the plans for widening 40th Street, from Electric Avenue to Mt. View Avenue, in
accordance with Plan No. 7283, be approved; and the Director of Public Works/City
Engineer authorized to advertise for bids.

STAFF REPORT
Plans for widening this section of 40th Street have been prepared
by the Engineering Division, and the project is ready to be advertised for
bids. The project consists, in general, of widening 40th Street to the
planned ultimate width of 72 feet between curbs, in order to provide 4
traffic lanes and a left-turn lane.
Listed below is an estimate of the total project cost, based upon
the Basic Bid. The Basic bid includes widening from just east of Electric
Avenue to Mt. View Avenue. Widening at Electric Avenue, including relocation
of the traffic signal standard, is designated as Additive Alternate A.

An amount of $135,700 has been allocated, under Account No.
242-362-57374, "Widening 40th Street, from Electric Avenue to Mt. View Avenue,
to finance the costs incurred for this project.
The estimated cost for Additive Alternate "A" is $29,650.00. This
alternate bid can be included in the contract in the event that a favorable
bid is received or supplemental funding is available.
We recommend that the plans be approved and authorization granted
to advertise for bids.
