Synopsis of Previous Council action:
Approval of out-of-state conferences have been approved
in the past. however, none have been requested for the
International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference
attendance by the Police Chief.
Recommended motion:
That attendance by Police Chief Donald J. Burnett, at the
International Association of the Chiefs of Police to be held
in Toronto, Canada, October 24 through October 29. 1987, be
approved.

STAFF REPORT
I have been a member of the International Association of Chiefs
of Police for many years. As a member of the California Police
Chiefs Association, I am currently on the Executive Board as
3rd Vice President for that Association. It is important
that I attend related to my position with the California Police
Chiefs Association, but most importantly, my attendance at
the IACP Conference provides me with a nationwide perspective
on contemporary issues related to law enforcement.
Interaction with IACP members allows me to learn new programs
and innovations that may be applied in the delivery of police
service in the City of San Bernardino. I have found the informal
interaction with Police Chiefs from international locations
to be as valuable as the formal agenda.
Due to the requirements of the conference, a $75 fee must be
mailed prior to July 1, 1987.
