Synopsis of Previous Council action:
Previous Planning Commission action:
At the meeting of the planning Commission on February 17, 1987,
the following direction was given to the Planning Department staff:
That a letter be transmitted to the Mayor and Council regarding
the hiring and recruitment of a Planning Director and indicating
that the Planning Commission would like to be involved in that
process and that the new Planning Director be a part of the
General Plan Revision Program.
Recommended motion:
Tbat the Mayor and Council review and consider the request of
the Planning Commission regarding the appointment of a Planning
Director.

The Honorable Mayor and Common Council:
Please be advised that the Planning Commission wishes to be
involved in the recruitment and selection of the City's
Planning Director. Perhaps to this end a representative of
the Planning Commission could participate in that process.
Furthermore, the Planning Commission suggests that the
selection of a new Planning Director and the General Plan
update be coordinated efforts. We are concerned that the new
Planning Director have an opportunity to participate in the
planning process of the General Plan update.
Thank you for allowing us a moment to share with you these
concerns.
