STAFF REPORT
As required by State law, the Engineerinq Division has completed the
update of traffic engineering radar surveys of 26 city streets. Without updated
speed surveys, police officers cannot use radar to enforce the speed limits
posted on those streets. The speed survey results and the recommended speed
limits are compiled on .the attached.
Some of the existing speed limits of these twenty six streets remain the
same. Major changes and new speed zones are highlighted below:
The study has been approved by the Mayor's Traffic Safety Committee and subse-
quently recommended for approval by the Mayor and Common Council. Implementa-
tion of this program requires approximately 50 new installations and 16 replace-
ments, at a unit cost of $50.00 and $4.00 respectively. Total expenditure is
estimated at $2,564.00.

ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING CHAPTER
10.52 OF THE SAN BERNARDINO MUNICIPAL CODE TO ESTABLISH NEW SPEED
ZONES ON ATLANTIC AVENUE, BASELINE STREET, MILL STREET, PEPPER
AVENUE, RIALTO AVENUE, SIERRA WAY, TIPPECANOE AVENUE, FORTIETH
STREET, ARROWHEAD AVENUE, UNIVERSITY PARKWAY AND "E" STREET.
THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 10.52.010 of the San Bernardino Municipal
Code is amended to read:
"10.52.010 Thirty miles an hour.
In accordance with and pursuant to the authority of Sections
22357, 22358, and 22360, of the California Vehicle Code, the Mayor
and Common Council do hereby determine and declare, upon the basis
of an engineering and traffic investigation, that a prima facie
speed limit of thirty miles per hour shall be established on the
following streets or portions thereof in the City:
'E' street: between Rialto Avenue and Tenth Street.
'F' Street: between Thirty-fourth Street and a point six
hundred feet north of Thirty-sixth Street.
Fortieth Street: between Golden Avenue and Mountain Avenue.
Mountain Avenue: between Thirty-ninth Street and Fortieth
Street.
Ninth Street: between Sierra way and 'H' Street."

In accordance with and pursuant to the authority of Sections
22357, 22358, and 22360 of the California Vehicle Code, the Mayor
and Common Council do hereby determine and declare, upon the basis
of an engineering and traffic investigation, that a prima facie
speed limit of fifty miles per hour shall be established upon the
following streets, or portions thereof, in the City:
Fifth Street: between victoria Avenue and a point one
hundred seventy-seven feet east of Lankershim Avenue.
Northpark Boulevard: between Little Mountain Drive and
california State University parkway.
University parkway: between 1-215 Freeway and Northpark
Boulevard.
Waterman Avenue: between Barton Road and a point three
hundred feet south of Central Avenue."
